Juice Wrld "Legend Never Dies" Sells 508K first week. Things you must know about the album
Let's get into the details.
1. People still genuinely did not think that Juice WLRD was ever this big: I remember a couple of years ago people were calling him a depressed Post Malone. He sings sadder songs, but well, Post Malone is already a depressed Post Malone! I know a friend who is a staunch fan of Post Malone and Juice Wrld and genuinely love their works. People who now feels Juice Wrld is taking a bigger stage are being played on the fact that Juice is no more. Yes, death works wonders for promotion. Nipsey Hussle didn't go platinum till after he died. "Supporters" tend to come out of no where after musicians die. That's the sad part. But it's alright, people earn new fans everyday and just because an artist died before you listen to the music doesn't mean you can't like them.
Juice was still massive before he passed, Lucid Dreams was #1 for a long time. A massive song, Death Race sold a lot first week too. Not saying that his death didn’t have any push in his popularity but he was definitely already one of the heads of the generation before his death.
2. His genre of music is always sad: I’m surprised a guy who was going through severe addiction people are expecting a happy album. It’s not like he got off drugs and had a few months sober before he died. He was still going through it and as someone who has gone through opiate addiction it’s pretty hard to be happy and juice was always truthful so I’m sure it’s dark. I’d be shocked if it has a lot of happy songs. By the way, he has some snippets that are happier and more upbeat, which might make the deluxe version.
Aside from drug addiction, he makes love songs too. The young age bracket is obsessed with him, he makes “my crush started dating someone else and now I’m sad” type music. The genre is timeless. It’s about 50/50 addiction to heartbreak ratio across his discography. Legends Never Die was definitely much more addiction than heartbreak music. In fact there were a good few non-heartbreak love songs on the album like Come and Go and Life’s a Mess.
3. The songs in the album were leaked before release. It's crazy how leaks don’t really affect sales anymore. I remember the time when an artist’s album leaked they'll redo the a lot of the album.
4. Juice sold 210K pure sales, where did all that come from? Merch sales on his website www.legendsneverdie999.shop Billboard will stop merch bundles counting towards sales by October.
Juice was and is a streaming powerhouse, his numbers can compete with the best. It's just sad still that we never got to see the full development of Juice. Just look at any huge artists first albums VS. their 3rd, 4th, and 5th, the growth is insane and Juice Wrld was already making platinum albums at 19-20. He has talent for making Radio and streaming bangers effortlessly. Regardless of how you feel about Juice, you can see his music reached a lot of people and he had a lot of talent for someone that young.
Wishing Well might be one of his most heart wrenching, as well as infectious, songs. Titanic is so dark and haunting, but really gives you a good look into what he was thinking and feeling as well.
His death is definitely one we will never get over and wish he was here to see his success and progress further along. Long Live Juice. Legends Never Die.
